A university creation as part of an Agile team

From idea to distribution

This game was made at UQAC for the Video game laboratory class. The aim of this course was to have its students experience the development of video games in the context of a small business in this field. The whole course consisted of creating a game within a Scrum team of 7 people, excluding the teacher being the Product Owner.

Indeed, after a week of self-training on the tools and the realization of the GDD and initial backlog, we realized 4 sprints of 2 to 3 weeks. The course ended with the realization of a trailer of the game (see video below).

My team was composed exclusively of Unity developers, namely:

COVID-19

It was during this project that COVID-19 became widespread, and development was interrupted during the 4th sprint. If the other courses took time to get going again remotely, this is not the case for this course: since the only presence required was in the meetings, we were able to adapt, especially through the Discord server we were using.

My caps

Developer: I made the barrel explosions, character select menu, endgame and HUDs. I actively contributed to the integration of AIs, the standardization of maps and the overall stability of the project according to the problems of the other members of the group. I also took care of half of the editing of the trailer. I also reviewed the code architecture and some optimization aspects in Unity.

Unity Expert: my experience allowed me to come and help others when a bug was really slowing them down. I also answered integration questions that other members might have.

Perforce Manager: we made the choice to learn how to use Perforce as a version control tool. I was responsible for giving other members the ability to use Perforce, and I helped resolve related conflicts among those who were having difficulties. I also hope not to use this tool again in the future.
