La Cité D'Ascar

A university experiment in Artificial Intelligence.
~ 2019 ~

Open University Project

The game was made as a free subject during the 2018 spring semester at UTBM. Me and my partner Florian Party have chosen to take this time to make a game where you have to take the place of the king only by interacting with other standalone characters in the kingdom. This was an opportunity for us to be able to practice and push our knowledge of Unity, as well as to put into practice the knowledge of AI seen in class.

This was the second game (after Frenetic Soccer) where we got to create a game from idea to deliverable. We had time constraints to meet, and other classes that caused us to rethink our goals and make sacrifices in gameplay and functionality.

Peasant revolt

In order to demonstrate the functionality of the AI, the only feasible quest is the peasant revolt. To win, both the player and his rival will try to help the peasants to gain their favor, and lead them to revolt against the king.

My involvement

The idea of the game comes mainly from Florian Party, but the conception of the specifications and the research of assets were done together.

In the realization, we worked together, despite some specializations. Florian mainly worked on the design and implementation of the AI. As for me, I was mainly in charge of the Unity architecture and the gameplay implementation.
